Celebrating World Environment Day at Laxmi Global School: A Commitment to a Sustainable Future

World Environment Day is an annual event celebrated on June 5th, dedicated to raising awareness and encouraging action for the protection of our environment. At Laxmi Global School, we believe that educating our students about the importance of environmental conservation is crucial for building a sustainable future. This year, we organized a series of three engaging activities to commemorate World Environment Day, fostering a sense of responsibility towards our planet among our students and the wider school community.

Theme and Purpose:

The theme for this year's World Environment Day was "Ecosystem Restoration," focusing on healing and reviving damaged ecosystems worldwide. Our primary objective was to emphasize the need for collective action to preserve and restore the delicate balance of nature.

Awareness Campaign:

We initiated an awareness campaign throughout the school to create a lasting impact. The families of our students had been issued circulars to send their sons/daughters in any clothes with the colour green, with the intent of making a small effort in the spirit of the event.

Tree Plantation Drive:

A key highlight of our World Environment Day celebrations was a tree plantation drive. Recognizing the significance of trees in maintaining ecological balance, we collaborated with the administrative team of Laxmi Vidyapeeth Sarigam, to secure saplings of Red and White Jamun, Papaya, Lemon, and Mango respectively. Students actively participated in planting saplings at the garden before our school's main entrance, beautifying our surroundings, and contributing to the restoration of the local ecosystem………………………………

………….. As an extension to our awareness campaign, students were also briefed about the importance of continually caring for the plant and instilled in our students a sense of responsibility towards the environment, and emphasized the importance of trees in maintaining ecological balance.

Bird-Feeder event:

To ignite creativity and environmental consciousness among our students, we organized an event where students between Grades 5 to 8 were asked to create bird feeders which could be hung around the plush greenery of our school’s premises. The biggest highlight of this event is that the bird feeders had been made out of eco-friendly materials such as popsicle sticks and woolen threads.

The celebration of World Environment Day at Laxmi Global School was a resounding success, fostering a sense of environmental stewardship among our students and staff. By engaging in various activities and initiatives, we demonstrated our commitment to ecosystem restoration and the conservation of our planet. The collective efforts made during this event will continue to inspire our school community to make conscious choices and take positive actions for a sustainable future.
